This past weekend saw the rather late running of the Western Province time trial champs. Maties was represented by Alex Heward, who was able to pull off a rather respectable but unexpected third place.

Alex went on to comment that: "We were fortunate that at the start we had a good break in the weather and were blessed with some sunshine. I went off strong but was saving myself for the ride back as it was an out and back course. Although the course was rather hilly I was able to make use of the downhills to make up some time on the other riders. I was feeling incredibly strong for the first 15kms until we were hit with some terrible weather including bucketing rain and even hail. "

Alex says he looks forward to build on this performance and perhaps even go for the win in 2012. One week earlier, Alex managed to pull of a 2nd place in the Joostenberg Race, which was also the yearly Dunlop Cup. The race was won by David Garret from Daikin Gu.

Social Meeting: Wednesday 2 March at Die Stal from 18:00. Snacks with guest speaker and wine auction in favour of the Give me a chance foundation. Also bring some meat for a bring-and-braai after.
