WPCA Road Series 2012 PDF Print E-mail
The first race in the Series was won by our own Stefan Ihlenfeldt, with Jan de Beer and Kyle Basson taking the first two sprint primes.
 
These below events will also form part of our selection criteria for the USSA Tour Team selection. There is a ladies and men's team. The tour takes place in the June/July holidays. The 2nd event on takes place on Sunday 22 April. Racing is over a 7.7km circuit in Atlantis Industria. ALL CATEGORIES will start at 8.30am.
 
Event 2 – Sunday 22 April
Venue – Atlantis
Host Club – City CC & Cyclelab Supercycling CC
Start – opp the fish factory Neil Hare Drive, Atlantis (Cape Town side of the circuit).
Time – Racing starts at 8.30am
Distance : 60 kms (Cat 3 & 4) ; 77 kms (Cat 1 & 2)
Entry fee : R70 (seniors/Vets/juniors) R50 (PPA clubs / u16/ u14/ u12)
 
Directions to the Venue:
From the N7:
Turn left at the Atlantis /Philadelphia intersection on the N7.
Turn right onto the R304 (Reygersdal Drive), turn right into Bloembosch Rd, follow this road (it becomes John Dreyer street) to the intersection of Neil Hare.
Turn left into Neil Hare Road, follow the road all the way to the traffic circle, proceed over the traffic circle and the start/finish will be 500 metres on the right opposite the fish factory.
From the R27 (West Coast Road)
Turn right onto the R307, take the first turn right into Atlantis Industria, turn right into Neil Hare Street and follow road till the start /finish opposite the fish factory.

Maties Tankwa Trap PDF Print E-mail

Members and friends of members - of all abilities - are invited to go spend 3 days riding MTB trails in the Koue Bokkeveld and Tankwa Karoo, on the second weekend after the Argus Tour,  ie 23 - 25 March.

Itinerary / Route:

Friday - drive to a farm in the Bokkeveld, 2.5 hrs from Stellies, via Ceres.
Arrive around 14:00 and ride a 40km MTB trail, recently built, singletrack etc. Kuier, braai, sleep. One big house, with lapa, a dam for cooling off, and space to sleep 16 people.

Saturday - early start to Die Mond, via the district road onto Kagga Kamma, over some, short steep climbs, with a brunch and swim at Kagga, tackle a HUGE rocky DH, for the nutters, (the rest catch a broomwagon ride) and arrive at Die Mond anything between 12 and 2. Relax, swim, canoe, eat drink, be merry. Camping and cottages available. (4 - 7 hrs, depending on what you want out of life.)

Sunday - trip back to start via Tankwa Padstal for a brunch, and a m03r53 climb back onto escarpment. (again, with options to laze out, max time in saddle should be 6 hrs)

Costs:
R420 pp, which includes a backup vehicle, accommodation, and permits. Excludes travel to and fro, food and drink. Numbers to exceed 14, to make retain price, otherwise budget will increase to R500 pp.
